If you wish to apply for a place in our kindergarten, please apply through Vestre Aker kindergarten council the local authorities in the area. You can go to: www.oslokommune.no

The process to apply for a kindergarten place is the following:

The main collective admission for all the kindergartens is done once a year. The deadline to apply is March 1st.  The kindergarten year starts August 1st and ends June 30th. Applications should be sent to the local kindergarten authorities from Vestre Aker area in Oslo.

After this period you can apply any time also through the local authorities in the area.  You will then be offered a kindergarten place if free places are available.

NORWEGIAN KINDERGARTENS LAW

The Norwegian law for kindergarten requires all kindergartens to make a framework plan that gives an overview of the kindergartens goals and working methods.

The kindergarten shall give children under school age proper development and activity possibilities in near understanding and cooperation with the children’s homes.
 (Norwegian kindergarten law 1 goal).

NEO HUMANISTIC KINDERGARTEN

Neo-Humanistic kindergarten is a private kindergarten with 20 children ages 1-6 years, and has a staff of two teachers and two assistants. The kindergarten is located in West Aker district and is recognized and approved by Norwegian law.

PEDAGOGICAL FUNDAMENT

Based on the framework plan from March 1st, 2006 has Childs involvement has been sat on focus. The framework plan says: “Children have the right to express themselves and to have influence with all sides of their life in the kindergarten”. Children should feel that they have self-determination and can express their own intentions.

The children in the kindergarten have the right to give their opinion about the kindergarten daily activities. Children shall frequently have the possibility to actively participate and evaluate the kindergartens activities. The children’s point of view shall be considered according to their age and maturity. 

In our Neo-humanistic kindergarten we interpret children’s involvement individually based on the child’s needs, interests, body language, sounds and mimic.

Our goal with children’s involvement are:

Observe the children so that:

    • We get to know children individually and how they express themselves
    • Be aware of the children’s signals and needs
    • We allow children to decide and make their own choices. Eg. Stimulate and challenge children to be creative in collective games or dances where they can decide and lead each other.

COOPERATING WITH THE CHILD’S HOME

“The kindergarten shall assist the home in their caring and upbringing tasks, and in this way create a good foundation for the children’s development, lifelong learning and active participation in a democratic society”. (The Norwegian kindergarten law, 2 the kindergartens contents)

“To ensure cooperation with the children’s homes, every kindergarten shall have a parent council and a cooperation committee” (The Norwegian kindergarten law 4 parent council and cooperation committee).

The staff shall get knowledge about the child’s background
Parents shall get knowledge about the kindergartens goal, contents and methods.
Parents and staff shall make realistic demands to each other, and have an open communication.
Parents and staff shall see each other as resources and take mutual responsibility to cooperate with each other.
It is the parents who have the main responsibility for children’s upbringing, but the kindergarten represents a complementary environment in relation to home.

The kindergarten has a parent committee consisting of:
One parent representing all parents.
The parents committee shall promote cooperation between home and kindergarten.

The kindergarten  has an administration committee consisting of:
Owner, one parent representative and one staff representative
The administration shall be a cooperation organ between parents, staff and owner.

The kindergarten has a cooperative committee consisting of:
One parent representing for all parents, one staff representative for the staff, and the kindergartens owner.
