Practical Information
The kindergarten is open from Monday to Friday, from 8:00 to 16:30.
The kindergarten is closed in July, the first week of August (planning days) and in public holidays (see yearly calendar).
It is paid for 11 months a year. There is no payment for July month. There is a monthly fast price of Kr. 2330 and 570 for food. The payment is due every 1st of the month. If the monthly payment is delayed, there will be given a penalty charge of Kr. 50 and 2% interest for every beginning month.
- By acceptance of a kindergarten place, there will have to be paid a one month guaranty amount. This amount is refundable when the child leaves the kindergarten as long as all the legal requirements and payments are followed according to the terms of the contract.
- There is a mutual two months resignation time. Resignation of the kindergarten place has to be given in writing before the first of each month. This means that if the child is leaving at the end of June, the resignation letter will have to be dated and delivered before May, 1st.
- The Kindergarten is closed in July because of holidays. Therefore, no resignation is valid in July.
It is important with a warm welcoming and a positive start in the kindergarten. Children have to get familiar with the adults, and feel secure with the environment and the other children. Therefore, it is necessary to do this adjustment gradually. The adjustment goes over five days. During the first 3 days in kindergarten, the children will be accompanied by one of the parents.
According to Norwegian law, parents with small children have the right to take free from work to accompany their child to the kindergarten during the adjustment period.
- Day - I hour visit with one of the parents
- Day- 2 hours visit with one of the parents
- Day- 3 hours visit with one of the parents
- Day- 1 hour alone without the parents
- Day- 2 hours alone without the parents
If the child is picked up by any other person than their parents, the kindergarten has to be notified. We do not send children along with strangers. Please newer take the child from the kindergarten without notifying the staff.
The kindergarten closes at 16.30. If the child is picked up after this hour, it is estimated as extraordinary babysitting. Therefore there will be a fee of 50 kr. for every 15 minutes with overtime and this fee has to be paid directly to the staff when the child is picked up.
The child shall stay at home if fever, vomiting, eye infection or diarrhea break out the evening before kindergarten day. The child should be kept home until the general condition is good. The child should also have one whole free day without fever before attending the kindergarten again. It is important that the child is healthy when he/she is in the kindergarten. A healthy child flourishes and is receptive for new impulses. It is also important to take consideration not only of your sick child but also towards the other children and staff who can easily get contagious and become also sick. Parents must inform the kindergarten when children are sick and about their condition. For instance, if the child is getting new teeth, if the child has had a bad night, if the child has been sick, and if there is something especial the staff has to follow while the child is in the kindergarten.
The kindergarten organizes “the collective working day” two times a year where parents have the responsibility to come and help the kindergarten with diverse kind of work to maintain the kindergarten in good condition, for example: Washing, cleaning playing ground, painting walls or furniture, and diverse maintenance work. Parents can choose between paying or doing the work. There is a fee of Kr. 400 per child for those who prefer to pay.
The kindergarten has two parents meeting a year, in the autumn and in the winter. Individual parents meeting to follow each child’s development is once a year in the spring.
According to official regulations the kindergarten has regularly yearly routines about safety and security inside and outside, fire routines, electrical routines, and hygiene.
The kindergarten has insurance for all children and the staff in case of any accident during kindergarten hours.
Everything has to have the child’s name on.
- Down quilt and a set of bedclothes
- Plastic baby’s bib, small towel for drying hands
- Zink ointment, wet napkins, diapers (all should be with name on)
- Extra change of clothes (body, panties, tights, sweater, pants, socks)
- Inside shoes, slippers ore slip socks
- One picture of the child (or the wardrobe sign)
- Sun lotion and sun hat
- Rainwear and rainproof boots. IMPORTANT! Rainwear has to be at least 2-3 sizes to big so it fits with comfort over a snowsuit. The rainproof boots also needs to be 2-3 sizes to big so that wool socks fits into them.
- Winter boots IMPORTANT! Recommended to be 2-3 sizes bigger than regular size so that wool socks fit into them. Cherrox boots are not warm in the winter.
- Children should wear thick clothes either wool thick clothes under the rain clothes.
- Wool cloths (socks, hat, caps, scarf, mittens and rain mittens.
- Thick outside suit or lined snowsuit. There should be possible to take out the lined so that the suit can be used all year.
- Cold cream for the face
Weekly plan and diverse information about sleeping time, napkin changes, and attendance are posted on the information board by the entrance.
Bedclothes and outside dress and all clothes (hat, gloves, scarf, etc) are to be taken home every Friday for washing and they should be returned on Monday.
